Chef Emma Carlton will become the first woman in Jersey to launch her own truly different dessert range. Because it’s so different, it’s catching on like wildfire.
Originally from County Durham, Emma qualified her chef training at New College Durham. She represented her college & Won Student Chef of the Year 1989 at the North East Salon Culinaire.
Emma’s first chef position was within the kitchens at the five-star Gosforth Park Hotel, Newcastle. She then moved to Jersey & worked in various hotels & eateries including Mange Tout in Jersey when first launched.
After an eight-year break, Emma made a welcome return to her true passion & launched her own professional business “Sweet Inspirations” in 2009.
Her welcome return began with her creating a dinner party for the former South African President F W de Klerk on a private visit to Jersey. Drawing inspiration from her love of ingredients and far-ranging and eclectic culinary influences, Emma is a member of the Genuine Jersey Products Association.
High demand for her products has shown that handmade luxuries from the very best quality ingredients coupled with know how, always find an eager audience when priced within reach.
EMMA CARLTON’S Sticky Toffee Pudding has been selling through Jersey niche retailers and Classic Farm Shops. She has become a bit of a local personality drawing crowds at the Genuine Jersey Farmers’ Markets. Selling her patisserie wares, answering questions, giving great cooking tips and usually doubling the amount of stock she takes and still selling out.
2010 Emma launches her brand and flagship product “Emma Carlton’s Sticky Toffee Pudding”
She has also been invited to a string of sales engagements on the UK mainland this year with the intention of pitching her brand to the international market.
